WINGATE — Bald Eagle Area star pitcher Sierra Albright has started the 2025 season right where she left off the 2024 season — posting pitching gems.

Last year, Albright went 20-5 with 10 shutouts, 267 strikeouts, 35 walks and a 1.47 earned average for the Lady Eagles, who reached the PIAA Class 2A semifinals before falling to Williamsport.

Albright opened her senior season by throwing a perfect game in a 10-0, five-inning win over Bishop Guilfoyle on Tuesday, March 18, at home. She followed that by tossing a one-hitter in a 13-0, five-inning shutout at Tyrone.

“She was very sharp,” BEA coach Don Lucas said. “And [catcher] Kailey Eckert completed the other half of the perfect game.”

BEA pounded out 12 hits, with senior Alexa Baney collecting three hits. Albright helped herself with two hits and five runs batted in. Sydney Thompson and Raelee Repasky had two hits apiece.

“We hit the ball very well,” Lucas said. “It was a great opening day.”

Against Tyrone, Albright struck out six and walked none.

Offensively, junior Addisyn Burns led the way with four hits, while senior Taylor Habovick had three hits. Baney and Albright collected two hits apiece.

“We hit the ball up and down the lineup,” Lucas said.

The Lady Eagles were scheduled to visit Thursday, March 27.
